The Frog Princess

Tales of the Frog Princess Series, Book 1

Visit www.edbakerbooks.com Princess Emeralda isn't exactly an ideal princess. Her laugh is like a donkey's bray rather than tinkling bells, she trips over her own feet and she does NOT like Prince Jorge, whom her mother hopes she will marry. But if Emma ever thought to escape her life, she never expected it to happen by turning into a frog! When convinced to kiss a frog so he might return to being a Prince, somehow the spell is reversed and Emma turns into a frog herself! Thus begins the adventure - a quest to return to human form. Fascinating and hilarious characters ranging from a self-conscious but friendly bat to a surprisingly loyal snake and a wise old green witch confirm that readers won't soon forget this madcap story! A fantastic debut from the talented E.D. Baker. Recognition · A Book Sense Children's Pick · A Texas Lone Star Reading List Book Bookseller recognition A Borders Books and Music Independent Reader's pick for November Reviews "The tale offers peppy dialogue and some comical scenes," Publishers Weekly "An amusing fairy-tale adventure that takes the frog-turned-prince story a little further." -School Library Journal "Taking a princess's-eye view, Baker reworks the traditional story into high-spirited romantic comedy." -Kirkus Reviews "Entertaining throughout." -Booklist Also available in hardcover: ISBN: 1-58234-799-9 Price: $15.95 Extract from The Frog Princess "The frog grinned from eardrum to eardrum. Straightening his smooth, green shoulders, he bowed from where his waist would have been if he'd had one. "I do apologize, Your Highness! If I had realized that you were such an exalted personage, I would never have made such churlish comments." I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Give me a break! I hate it when people talk that way! I liked you better before you knew I was a princess." About the author In addition to The Frog Princess, E. D. B Princess Emma's first froggy adventure

Reviews-
  • DOGO Books snicker9 - The Frog Princess is one of my favorite books. Princess Emeralda, otherwise known as Princess Emma, is not your typical princess. She clumsy, and has the laugh of a donkey, and she doesn't like the self-centered Prince Jorge who her mother wants her to marry. Instead she likes to explore the swamp and and learning about magic from her Aunt Grassina. One day when she is in the swamp, she meets a talking frog named Eadric. Eadric claims to be a prince, and he needs Emma to kiss him to turn him back into a prince. Emma consents, but something goes horribly wrong when Emma turns into a frog as well. Now Emma and Eadric must make a journey full of danger and predators in order to find a cure. I absolutly love this book, and the rest of the series. E.D. Baker is a fantastic writer, and her stories are weaved with magic and plot twists! I recommend this book to middle grade kids, around ages 8-12. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
