Though Lady Julia Fieldhurst decided to avoid London gossip about her husband's murder by visiting in Yorkshire, tragedy followed her. The vicar, who had almost completed a volume on local history, died in a vicarage fire. Julia, suspecting this might have been murder, summoned John Pickett of Bow Street to investigate. Posing as her footman, he gathered information from belowstairs, while she supplied it from above. Regency Mystery/Romance by Sheri Cobb South; originally published by Five Star
